Wizards of the Coast Reveals First Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Spoilers

Wizards of the Coast revealed their first Innistrad: Midnight Hunt spoilers today on their Weekly MTG stream. While the titular Werewolves of the set weren’t spoiled, some returning mechanics, powerful spells and a returning planeswalker were spoiled.

The first returning mechanic announced is flashback, which will be multicolored for the first time. Raise your hand if you didn’t realize that every flashback spell was monocolored! Maybe Intangible Virtue could return to give the Humans a fighting chance?

Next up is a set of new removal spells for Standard. Play with Fire fills the slot as a straight-up Shock upgrade while Infernal Grasp offers cheap, unconditional, instant speed removal, but with a cost.

Well, looks like someone didn’t champion very well. Modern Humans players may be a bit squeamish at Champion of the Perished, but it’s a new tribal effect payoff for one of Magic’s most prolific tribes.

Wrenn didn’t make it into Modern Horizons 2, but they’re back for Innistrad: Midnight Hunt! This one’s got a little bit of everything – Mulch, Fastbond and even a Praetor’s Counsel-esque ultimate!

There were no Werewolves spoiled, but Wizards reassured us that they’ll be back with a new, interesting mechanic.
