I was perusing the lists from recent Modern results, and found an updated version of a blast from the past – Mono-Blue Faeries. This deck was dominant in Extended (the big non-Legacy/Vintage format before Modern was created), and I played a ton with it. I even found an article I wrote in 2008 about the deck, which you can check out here. Of note, I did not end up playing Faeries at GP LA, and instead switched to Mind’s Desire (which worked out nicely). In any case, enough history lessons – let’s move back to the present. This mono-blue deck pairs flash creatures with counterspells and lock pieces, leading to a highly unpleasant experience for the opponent (and a profitable one for you). Let’s dive in!
