  1. Tough breaks. Perhaps white and red weren’t as open as you thought. Although for red I don’t know what happend in the second pack. I guess that’s just how it goes sometimes.

  2. You can still play Goblin Guide in a defensive draft deck, since trades with a lot of creatures as a blocker and still gives you the option to deal 2 damage out of nowhere. Gomozoa is a great answer against bigger creatures, so I would have picked it over the 5 mana ally, since you don’t happen to have a lot of them, yet.

  3. I think you have forced too much blue in the first Pack, 4th pick baloth is AWESOME and after that you can take basilisk (green open) and go RG.

  4. I think goblin guide is incredibly poor in limited. As a blocker, I’d much rather play kraken hatchling, and as attacker, well, I’d hate to attack with him. He’s just garbage.

  5. I think LSV is focusing too much on “what is a good color combination” rather than what is open. Misreading the table in Zen is a recipe for death.

  6. I love Goblin Guide. He’s such a beating, and from my experience the opponent benefits from his drawback less often than you’d think. In addition, you get to see what they’re drawing next if it’s not a land. Great card in my opinion, I pick it highly.

  7. I dont like the pick of Molten Ravenger its really a terrible card for an aggressive deck yes slaughter cry can get you 2 for oned but more often than not it works especially in this format. You can even ensure that it works or pull the removal from their hands to lay down something that it would be better used on.
    Most draft decks are fairly light on removal.
    Also thinking of the torch slinger as simply another 5 drop is wrong.
    It is a bit more flexible than that.

    Sometimes the right or neccissary play is to play the flexible(if overcosted) 2/2 rather than sit to maximize the ability.

  8. Ugh, I really don’t like the commitment to RU based on the first two picks. Did anyone else think that P1P3 should have been kor skyfisher instead of boar?

  9. As has been proven over and over the only decks that win in this draft format are superfast aggro decks like R/B, W/B, R/W etc etc.

    Yet you keep picking up cards that cost 4 or 5 mana. That’s just wayyyy too slow in this format unless the card is called Marsh Casualties. Control and midrange decks just don’t work.

    I’m pretty sure you should have hopped into black when you got the Casualties since at that point it was pretty obvious there was no way you were getting a good aggro deck so might as well go for the “mise” wins with casualties and friends.

    I’ve seen this reluctance of yours to switch colours before in M10 drafts and I just don’t know why.

  10. Completely disagree with Rak. Aggressive starts can be good in this format if you get a bunch of guys with Intimidate/flying (which happen to be good in any deck, weakening the argument for aggro still further) but otherwise you often just fold to something like a Hatchling or a Shieldmate.

    And I’m not sure where this whole ‘Slaughter Cry was initially seen as a terrible card’ idea came from, it’s not difficult to figure out that an insane combat trick that occasionally doubles as a Lightning Bolt is good.

  11. I didn’t like the kortographer pick pack one. Expedition map is a hidden gem if you’re still possibly mono red. You have to pick them up early if you want that valakut to shine. If you get 2 maps and a valakut you can run 20 lands, and that deck will win the draft.

  13. Id have straight out taken the Bloodchief p1p1 then Disfigure etc and would have been black and ended up with a completely different deck than the one you have. BG almost certainly. Shrug. Anyhow, see you around, team draft soon =)
