Hello to all CFB readers! Nathália again with another Pokemon TCG article and this time I’m going to talk about a deck already known in the competitive scene, but with some new changes due to the new format: Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX / Inteleon.
I confess that in September I couldn’t test as much as I’d like because I had the honor of participating in Pokemon’s Draft the World event, an event in which I would have to play with different decks from different years, a great tribute and celebration of the beautiful story of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Like Xander Pero and Tablemon, players who were also invited, the tournament consisted of using decks from previous formats from 2014 to 2019. To remember all these decks and formats that I’ve played in the past, I had to take a journey back in time.
But after playing Draft the World, I had enough time to give due attention to a deck that I have played a lot since its release in Chilling Reign, which is the Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX / Inteleon deck. Regardless of the metagame, I have always seen this deck as a safe option to use in a tournament, as the combination of Ice Rider with Inteleon and Path to the Peak brings enough power to play against everything. With the arrival of Evolving Skies, this deck’s quality has improved even more with the arrival of Suicune V, one of the strongest Pokemon in the new set.
In today’s article I’m going to look at the list of Ice Rider I’ve been using today. The biggest challenge I had in making this list was finding and understanding the combination between Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX and Suicune V, as both are strong and synergistic with Inteleon and Melony, but it is important to understand the role that each of these Pokemon play in your strategy. Some perceptions of mine about the metagame also impacted my final list, so some decisions that make sense today may change in the future as the metagame changes.
