Orbeetle Observatory — Brewing Some Stage 2 Jank

Evomancy. What can you get with it that’s worthwhile? First, how is this even going to happen?

Orbeetle is super similar to Cradily. It’s better, though, because it exists in a format with Triple Acceleration Energy. One Triple can net you three Stage 2 Pokemon and it’s possible to do this on your second turn through Rare Candy and the Energy.

Some of my favorite (control) options are:

I think this deck should be taken in this direction because it’s slow as it is. If you’re looking to build an attacking Stage 2 deck in a format with ADP, it’s already too late for you. Getting out something like Decidueye though can lock an opponent out right away – Shiftry is another intriguing option.

I think we all know that Deep Forest Camo bags some matchups automatically. Depending on the matchup, you can simply Evomancy one out and the game should be yours. In other matchups, you can get more crafty. I really want to see what other decks do against Item lock when their Supporters can only draw them three cards. Boss’s Orders can’t even be used against Shiftry.

Before I continue, I want to point out that it seems obvious that Orbeetle is best used with Decidueye. Don’t have Decidueye? At best you’re playing a cute way to get out multiple Stage 2 Pokemon, but at worst you’re playing an unnecessary line that clogs up your deck and makes it harder to accomplish the strategy you’re going for. Down the line in a slower format, there’s a chance this could be better – but that format will almost certainly exclude Triple Acceleration Energy and complicate matters. Yes, there’s still Twin Energy, but that’s just not as powerful.

This deck could be laughably bad, or really sick.

Yes, I probably tried to jam way too much stuff in here. Point is, maybe OrbeetleDecidueye should just be the way to play everyone’s least favorite Grass-type Stage 2 moving forward. I have a Celebi to give you options for finding Triple Acceleration Energy and of course I’m far too intrigued to leave out Omastar or Shiftry. Bruno could be superior to Professor’s Research. Try this deck out if it hypes you up like me – or if you get bored – and feel free to delete it at your earliest convenience. I wonder how long my copy will last.

Here are some other options if you wanted to use Orbeetle just as a means to bring out a main attacker or as a main support Pokemon:

Here are some general techs:

Thanks for taking a couple minutes to read about Orbeetle –  I needed to get it out of my system. I’ll be trying it when Battle Styles is live, but I won’t get my hopes up! Try out the deck if you like Stage 2 Pokemon, random jank or just want to have some creative fun for a bit.
