Does Expanded Trevnoir Still Work Without Milotic?

The title says it all – does it work? Short answer is yes! Ditto does the work. Formerly, one would use Milotic, but now that it’s banned, it needs replacing. Enter Electrode-GX – while it awards the opponent an additional Prize, that’s not all bad. Shaymin-EX’s ban also hurts a ton. Set Up is sorely missed, so playing two copies of both Dedenne-GX and Crobat V is essential. You could turn to other support Pokemon like Oranguru or even Unown if you wanted, but simply adding Trainers’ Mail to the deck has felt solid. Acro Bike is another choice if more space was made, but for now here’s where the list stands.

Ditto simply works as a placeholder for the Pokemon-GX it will become after. This is very easy to do and doesn’t affect much of your strategy. Holding Alolan Muk and/or Garbodor in certain situations is one occasional downside. This list is structurally similar to the old Trevnoir ones and with Eggrow / Vileplume on a downtrend, you should consider taking out Garbotoxin.

Simply put, this is a bit of a clunkier version of Expanded’s last dominant deck but it’s still powerful. It still has a great shot of beating control/stall decks because it ruins their hands and can get them to brick. It can beat Ability-based Item lock with Garbotoxin and it holds its own against the likes of turbo decks like Mad Party and ADPZ. Darkness-type decks are obviously still tricky, but putting your opponent’s hand down to one with a chance for them to brick is a chance at a win in of itself.

Acro BikeTrainers' Mail (Non-Holo) - 92a/108

The consistency core in the deck hasn’t changed much and probably shouldn’t. I have toyed around with the idea of favoring Acro Bike over Trainers’ Mail though. Without Set Up, some of this deck’s setup can be messy. Nest Ball is another card to consider. Keep in mind that this deck still struggles against an early Sudowoodo’s Roadblock. In those cases, you need to be very careful with your Bench space and the more Item-based draw you have, the better.

Choose to go second with this deck. You want to Horror House GX on turn one if you can, then put them to one random card the turn after.

Your first turn field should consist of the following at minimum:

Gengar & Mimikyu GXVoltorbDitto

This sounds simple, but with Roadblock in play, it’s not. Keep in mind that this ideal field is completely doable while using both Dark Asset and Dedechange in the same turn – unless you want to get an Ability locker on turn two.

That’s all there really is to this deck. Yes, you can omplete the combo, even with the bans, and hope to win after Ace Trainer plus Night Watch. In times where you’re forced to go first, don’t fret – get out the ideal field (minus Genkyu) and prepare for the turn two Night Watch. After your opponent’s hand is ruined, start to chase optimal Prizes with Guzma. Use Exeggcute to your advantage on the first turn in your sequencing. Remember, you can lock a hand out in the late game as well after N if your opponent draws out of it. Look to lock their Abilities to eliminate outs to the hand lock.

Play this deck if you like troll/lock/combo/control decks. It’s very satisfying to get the combo off. One thing Electrode-GX does is give out two Prizes, so after the first TAG TEAM your opponent takes down you can N them to one card. Without Shaymin-EX this deck is worse, but it still functions. Try it out!
