The second Zendikar Rising League Weekend has come and gone. Like the first League Weekend, these matches help to determine seeding for the next season of professional play. With membership in the Magic Pro League on the line, these weekends have become incredibly important to professional Magic.
Team ChannelFireball was looking to improve on its last performance. Sitting in a tie for first place with 15 wins are Rei Sato and Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa. Leading Channel Fireball’s way in the Magic Pro League are Reid Duke and Gabriel Nassif – each with 14 wins. This puts them in a three way tie for third place in the MPL with Marcio Carvalho. Right behind them at 13 wins is Andrea Mengucci. Martin Juza is in the middle of the pack with 11 wins and William Jensen finds himself in sitting at 10 wins. Duke, Jensen, Juza, and Nassif all ran Gruul Adventures this week while Mengucci bucked the trend and ran Esper Doom Foretold.
Meanwhile in the Rivals League, Luis Scott-Vargas stands alone. LSV also ran Gruul Adventures this past weekend and was rewarded with 9 more wins. This puts him at 18 wins – a win ahead of second place (Matt Sperling) and puts him in a strong position at the end of Zendikar Rising League Weekend play.
