News Round Up: Week of September 21

Even in a week with relatively little news, waves were still made. Let’s get right to it.

In a not at all ominous post to Twitter, it was announced that the staff at Wizards of the Coast has been “closely monitoring” Standard and that an announcement is to be expected on Monday, September 28. Since the early release of Zendikar Rising on MTG Arena, the format has been dominated by Omnath, Locus of Creation ramp decks. While no one knows what will happen, the discussion about bans center Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath. Uro has been a major player in Standard during a span where blue and green have been extremely powerful.

The other big news out this week was the release of the official rosters for the next Magic Pro League and Rivals League. These professional players will battle on designated weekends to climb the ladder, fighting for a spot in the end of season Gauntlet events. The first league weekend will take place October 24-25.
