News Round Up: Week of April 17

The release of Strixhaven: School of Mages has come and with it a number of updates for both Arena and Magic Online. Due to some issues surrounding the Arena store in an early build, the Arena team is offering free Mastery Levels with the redemption code “Restorative Burst”. The other big news is the next Limited Arena Open. Featuring Strixhaven sealed, the open tournament will take place May 8 and 9.

The other major news this week was the reveal of the next Secret Lair Super Drop: Dr. Lair’s Secretorium. Available from April 26 through May 28, there are eight drops, of a fashion. First are the five Culture Shock drops. Each of these contain three alternate art Shock Lands based around the three color Shards (Bant, Esper, Grixis, Jund, Naya). These will be available in non-Foil treatment only and there is also a bundle that includes one of each Culture Shock drop.

The lands keep coming. Available in Foil and non-Foil is The Full-Text Lands. Featuring one of each Basic Land (with a bundle option for 10 sets), this drop features no new art. That’s because each card face is taken up with the full rules text of each Basic Land.

There are two more drops, each with new art. The first is Our Show is On Friday, Can You Make It? with art resembling concert posters. Available in non-Foil the cards are: Nature’s Lore, Wrath of God, Decree of Pain, Gamble, and Preordain. Finally there are six more cards getting the Mystical Archive treatment in Showcase: Strixhaven. Available in both Foil and non-Foil, you can get your hands on Mystical Archive versions of the following cards: All is Dust, Artifact Mutation, Drown in the Loch, Fire Covenant, Fractured Identity, and Fracturing Gust.
