Boooooooooooooooooooooooring. I am SO disappointed by this.

When I saw that they were making an Elspeth DD I was excited. I hoped that they would finally break away from mono-colored DDs with this one…maybe showcase the best of Bant in the MtG world vs the best of Esper. But I was disappointed. Then, I hoped that maybe we would get some decent card quality. But I was disappointed. Crusade!? Well, I _guess_ it is better than Honor of the Pure (since that has been reprinted so many times already). StP, Kithkin, Angel of Salvation, Mishra’s Factory?? Snooze fest.

Maybe I am expecting too much for my $20.00, but these decks seem really boring. I guess the 3 that my local game store is saving for me will get cracked just so I can sell the StPs to all of the newbies who seem so excited by it. (Yes, fine, the art is nice but I am not sure it really evokes the feeling of either the original or IA Swords art).

  2. There is something off, there are more rares listed here than are supposed to be in the duel decks. So does anyone know what there will really be in the duel decks yet? I hope they get a list out soon. After seeing the Steel Overseer, I got pretty excited about this buy in addition to the planeswalkers.

  5. @Anonymous: Yeah, for $20 I’d be really mad to get a Planeswalker that still sells for more than that, plus a number of Legacy staples with new art and piles of quality besides.

They won’t make a Duel Deck that’s multiple-color for a long time, because they’re for beginners. It’s much easier to understand colorless VS colored mana at first then move up to multicolor.

  6. I was a little dissapointed by this, but then again 2 StP’s and the planeswalkers are more than enough to make the duel deck a great deal.

  7. New art for Swords is really cool.
Not to mention I get an Elspeth and Tezzeret for my purchase.

What’s the deal with the “emblem” text on Elspeth’s ultimate?
