This card is awesome. It does look a little bit like a Timmy card (you know, the Vampire your local game store sells to everyone looking to upgrade their casual Vampire deck). I would’ve thought that if it had cost 4 mana—but at 3, we have a winner.
Let’s start by setting aside the ability. She’s a 3/3 flyer for 3 mana.
Yeah—let’s just say that you start off with a huge upgrade here. Historically, these stats were worthy of a drawback—nowadays, your drawback is to play 2 colors. I can get behind that.
She is sort of a Goblin Chieftain for all your creatures with better stats. OK, I might be getting too excited here—the discard cost is not free, yet, in Constructed—and particularly with madness around—it’s not hard to turn this downside into an upside.
With that out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff. What should you pair her with?
The list goes on and on and on in red/black. The colors are totally themed around the card and everyone is already writing about it. For that reason, I want to go a little deeper and see if she has potential in other strategies.
Adding a third color to aggressive decks looks like it won’t be an easy task with the lands we have to work with. Instead, I want to try to find a midrange home for her—even if you don’t have madness cards, I’m sure her ability can pair well with any source of card advantage.
I’m aware that having your creatures killed after discarding cards for them could be a serious issue, but, if my opponent isn’t killing my 3/3 flyer in order to get me, they aren’t in a great spot anyway.
That’s the dream. It requires having cast creatures before turn 4 to get full value and I am talking about a deck with 2- and 3-drops, a double-black, a gold, and a green card—but hey, that’s the trick.
In all seriousness, Collected Company with Olivia is just plain insane in general—get her down on turn 3, then give both your creatures haste.

These 60 cards are among the first ones I will test once I have decks together. The mana base for 3-colored decks is an interesting puzzle that I haven’t yet figured out. My initial line of thought would be that you want fewer battlelands as they basically never come into play untapped, and you only need one in your hand to turn on all of your handlands.
