2020 Mythic Invitational Information

The final esports update of 2019 provided some clarity on what Mythic Invitationals will look like in 2020. There will be three Mythic Invitationals in 2020, each taking place over four days and with a prize pool of  $750,000 prize pool.

  • May 14-17, 2020: Mythic Invitational Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths
  • July 23-26, 2020: Mythic Invitational Core 2021
  • October 22-25, 2020: Mythic Invitational Zendikar Rising

Locations, tournament structure, and prize payouts will be coming in 2020. Unlike 2019, Mythic Invitationals will feature 128 competitors in 2020.

Players can qualify for a Mythic Invitational by earning 10 wins in a Mythic Qualifier Weekend. Unlike 2019, the Qualifiers in the first quarter of 2020 will take place on a single day. There will be a two-hour entry window to join and competitors will play Standard – best two-of-three – until they achieve 10 wins or 2 losses. All players who reach 10 wins will qualify for Mythic Invitational Ikoria.

  • March 14, 2020: Ikoria Mythic Qualifier #2
  • May 23, 2020: Core 2021 Mythic Qualifier #1
  • June 20, 2020: Core 2021 Mythic Qualifier #2

Mythic Points

The announcement also stated the importance of Mythic Points as it relates to the Rivals League. Performing well in a Mythic Invitational or a Mythic Points Challenge will award Mythic Points. In additional to helping players in the race for Rivals League, the Top 8 Mythic Points earners from the first quarter’s Mythic Qualifiers and Mythic Point Challenges will receive an invite the first Mythic Invitational (if they are not already qualified). Players in the top 200 Mythic Points in the first quarter will be invited to compete in all Mythic Qualifiers and Mythic Point Challenges in the second quarter.

The Mythic Point Challenges for the first quarter will be Standard constructed, best two-of-three. The Top 1200 Arena players will have an opportunity to participate.

December 19th Update: After some confusion and discrepancies between various announcements, the players in the Top 1200 Mythic in October 2019, November 2019, December 2019, or January 2020, will be eligible to participate in February’s Mythic Point Challenge.

Team Series Final

The 2019 Mythic Championship Team Series Final will be played at MagicFest Austin. The two finalists – Ultimate Guard Pro Team and Hareryuya Sword – will play Theros Beyond Death team draft. Each team will split into two sub-teams and draft against their opposing squad. If one team wins both drafts the match is decided. Otherwise, the winning team from each draft will play against each other for the title. The Team Series Final will have live video coverage.
