Since the release of Ikoria, Modern has been a format full of companions. Yorion, Sky Nomad, Kaheera, the Orphanguard, Jegantha, the Wellspring, Obosh, the Preypiercer and especially Lurrus of the Dream-Den are super common to see at the beginning of a game. However, a very creative player by the name of Colins Mullern has put this list together featuring one of the more obscure companions: Lutri, the Spellchaser!
At one point, Mullern was 15-0 in MTGO leagues with this very fun brew. While not a deck that breaks the format, or is even particularly competitive, this deck does get to have the unique angle of being a pile of good cards that are almost impossible to play around. I’ve played both with and against the Lutri deck and it is a nightmare to try to figure out the best way to approach playing against it.
This makes for a lot of fun for the Lutri pilot and I definitely recommend picking this deck up if you’re looking for a fun deck to play at FNM. Make sure to add a pet card or two when you do though!
