Taking Legacy to School – Legacy Jeskai Mentor – Deck Highlight

Legacy Jeskai Mentor by WOOOP_ORC

If you’re a long time Legacy player and still remember about those days of locking the opponent with Sensei’s Divining Top and Counterbalance, then this Deck Highlight is for you! WOOOP_ORC came second in Sunday’s Legacy Challenge with Old School Jeskai Mentor, featuring two copies of an old Legacy card – Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

Monastery Mentor is trying to give the deck a fast clock and an alternative line of attack with four Force of Will and two Force of Negation to defend it the same turn you cast it.

Back to Basics has been the bane of my existence since I started playing Jeskai MonkeyStill, even more so than Blood Moon which still lets you cast Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer and let you play with your basic land of choice. Unlike Blood Moon though, Back to Basics is really backbreaking, especially when it’s unexpected, and it’s a blue card which you can pitch to your six Forces so it’s never dead in any matchup.

I called this deck Jeskai, but in reality it’s just a UW Control with three Red Elemental Blast in the sideboard for the blue matchup. That’s common in Legacy and rightfully so, because blue is by far the best color and you have to be prepared for it.
