Mono-Black is Finally Good in Legacy!

Legacy Mono-Black by Medvedev

Mono-Black is finally a good deck in Legacy! It won its second Legacy Challenge in a few weeks in the hands of Medvedev, and it placed several copies in the Legacy Challenges Top 8.

It’s not a prison deck like we’ve seen in the past with Curse of Misfortunes, but instead the opponent from various angles.

Urza's SagaDark DepthsOpposition Agent

Dark Depths will be your plan A by getting Marit Lage via Vampire Hexmage and Thespian’s Stage, with four copies of Expedition Map to fetch the combo pieces.

Dauthi Voidwalker, Dark Confidant and Opposition Agent will be your plan B. They all work as card advantage/prison engines that draw extra cards while stopping your opponent from searching their library or using their graveyard.

Thoughtseize, Duress and Pithing Needle will be disrupting your opponent’s plan, giving you time to assemble your Marit Lage.

Urza’s Saga is your plan C as a one-card combo that can deliver a couple of Construct tokens while searching up Expedition Map to help you loop it.

Another sweet package you can get with Urza’s Saga and Expedition Map comes off the sideboard against control decks. Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth can give you enough mana to activate your Eye of Ugin and even fetch up Emrakul, the Aeons Torn!

Finally there’s a plan D. Helm of Obedience, with both Dauthi Voidwalker and Leyline of the Void, can mill your opponent’s deck simply by activating the Helm for X=1!
