Modern Boros Aggro – Deck Highlight

Modern Boros Aggro by GauldenWahn

I was scouting some Modern deck lists for what’s new in the format with Modern Horizon 2 and as an aggro fan, this Boros Aggro deck caught my eye. It’s creator, GauldenWahn, managed to go 5-0 with it in a Modern league.

Mox Amber

First thing I noticed was that 19 lands has to be pretty low even for a deck like this, but then I realized there are four Mox Ambers to really speed up the early game, which I quite like!

Ragavan, Nimble PilfererKytheon, Hero of Akros // Gideon, Battle-ForgedZurgo BellstrikerThalia, Guardian of ThrabenThalia, Heretic CatharTajic, Legion's Edge

Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Kytheon, Hero of Akros, Zurgo Bellstriker, both copies of Thalia and Tajic, Legion’s Edge are all legendary creatures, which should make it pretty easy to really abuse the power of the Mox. The one downside is that you’re playing a lot of legendaries in the full four copies, which could mean a lot of awkward draws where you’re stuck with additional copies in your hand that you can’t use. The upside is that you’re an incredibly fast aggro deck that even gets to run four Sunbaked Canyons as a way to try to mitigate flood.

Stoneforge MysticBatterskullMaul of the Skyclaves

I like the two Equipment choices for Stoneforge Mystic. Batterskull is pretty standard, but Maul of the Skyclave over Sword of Fire and Ice is not something you see in most lists. It makes sense though, as giving your creature flying makes it quite likely to help you push the last couple points of damage.

The sideboard is a combination of most of powerful white sideboard cards that can completely shut down a deck.

If you like aggressive decks, I can recommend giving this a try.
