March of Otherworldly Light vs Portable Hole in Jeskai Control

I’ve been working on Historic Jeskai Control lately and March of Otherworldly Light seems to be fitting perfectly the archetype! Here’s my current list:

March of Otherworldly LightPortable Hole

I believe it’s an improvement over Portable Hole, and here’s why:

Pros:

Cons:

  • It doesn’t kill a one-drop on turn one (without taking the exiling a card from hand effect – we don’t want to two-for-one ourselves on turn one!).
  • You can’t trade up in mana. Portable Hole was amazing when it was exiling a two-drop for just one mana.

I believe the versatility to hit more expensive cards it’s what sells me to March of Otherworldly Light overall, and in other formats like Modern and Legacy, this card will be able to exile an Urza’s Saga for just one mana!
