Modern Jund Saga by Sanitoeter
There are dozens of ways to build red/black/x midrange decks in Modern at the moment, and over the weekend MTGO user Sanitoeter piloted a new variant into this weekend’s challenge top 8. This is Modern Jund Saga, but choosing to play three-mana permanents over getting access to Lurrus of the Dream-Den as a companion.
Liliana of the Veil is the main reason to play the version and it is still a really powerful card in Modern. It plays really well with Wrenn and Six, and it’s great versus most opposing Ragavan decks.
Some combination of Liliana, Bonecrusher Giant, Endurance, Seasoned Pyromancer, Grist, the Hunger Tide and Bloodbraid Elf all give Jund a reason to not play Lurrus. And while the Lurrus variants are still the most dominant version, I do think that there is a lot of underexplored space in this archetype.
