Legacy 4c Snowko - zyxwvutsrqpon
At one point it felt as though there was no escaping Oko, Thief of Crowns. Thanks to bans, he’s a distant memory in many formats, but in Legacy, Oko lingers.
This is probably the best format for a card like Oko. It’s powerful, using Snow-Covered lands and Arcum’s Astrolabe (another problem card) to ensure your mana is always fixed. Astrolabe gives you access to answers to basically anything, and Oko itself laughs at permanents that may get in your way. Nice Chalice, now it’s an elk. Oh you played an Aether Vial? Elk. Belcher? More like Elker, am I right?
The gameplan is more or less a midrange-y goodstuff deck. You’ve got Uro, Ice-Fang Coatl, Leovold, even Omnath and a strong suite of removal, card draw and counters, with a sideboard to shore up anything your maindeck can’t deal with (which isn’t much). This is a deck about staying alive long enough to simply present better threats than your opponent and it’s extremely good at doing that.
