Dominaria United is right around the corner, and there are lots of exciting potential new additions to Pioneer and Modern from the set. While there are a few more options that are powerful, the card that I’m the most excited for is Aether Channeler.
Aether Channeler is a powerful and flexible creature that fits perfectly into the Bant Collected Company deck that I’ve been working on for the last couple of months. The card is a perfect fit in the archetype as it’s a three-mana creature to help maximize your value from Collected Company as well as having a flexible enters the battlefield effect that you can reuse turn after turn to either give you card advantage, flood the board with Bird tokens or interact with your opponent by bouncing any of their nonland permanents.
I currently plan to jam the full four copies of the card in the main deck by cutting two copies of Deputy of Detention and two copies of Endurance, but I could see wanting to do a less polarizing split of these cards after doing some playtesting.
Here’s the list I plan on starting with:
1 Breeding Pool 1 Temple Garden 4 Collected Company 4 Ephemerate 2 Snow-Covered Forest (284) 4 Noble Hierarch 4 Ice-Fang Coatl 2 Snow-Covered Island (278) 1 Snow-Covered Plains (276) 4 Soulherder 2 Time Warp 3 Windswept Heath 4 Wall of Omens 2 Glasspool Mimic/Glasspool Shore 1 Spara's Headquarters 3 Eternal Witness 3 Flooded Strand 4 Misty Rainforest 2 Hallowed Fountain 3 Solitude 2 Wall of Blossoms 4 Aether Channeler Sideboard 2 Silence 1 Deputy of Detention 2 Knight of Autumn 1 Solitude 1 Time Warp 2 Burrenton Forge-Tender 2 Venser, Shaper Savant 1 Endurance 3 Meddling Mage
