Adding Crackdown Construct Combo to Modern Mono-White Fiddlebender

Modern Crackdown Construct Fiddlebender by Evart Moughon

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been working on this mono-white Oswald Fiddlebender brew, a midrange deck full of two-for-ones and artifact synergies. I recently put out a deck guide for the archetype, and would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a new competitive deck, likes tool boxes and artifacts. Today, I want to highlight an exciting new upgrade to the deck – an infinite Crackdown Construct combo.

Crackdown Construct

Crackdown Construct, when paired with Lightning Greaves and another creature on the battlefield, allows you to activate Greaves infinite times and trigger Construct’s ability over and over, then when you end the loop, you can reequip Greaves to Construct and attack with a 1,000,000/1,000,000 creature. This combo can be chump blocked, but the deck has access to Shadowspear to trample over any blockers.

While this isn’t this deck’s plan A and you won’t combo off in most games, having access to an infinite combo by just adding one extra card to the deck is really exciting. The ability to tutor Crackdown Construct with Fiddlebender makes it really threatening, and this threat of the combo will always keep your opponent on the backfoot. The combo will also allow you to race some big mana and combo decks (which could be problematic matchups for the non-combo variant).

I’m really excited for this upgrade to the archetype, and I’ll be exploring it more over the next few weeks.
