Using the Different Decks in D-Spirits

One of the best things about D-Spirits is, without any doubt, its use of three distinct decks. It’s one of a number of unique mechanics to differentiate itself in the crowded TCG market, and it more than succeeds in standing out!

The first deck is the D-Squad deck, which is unquestionably the highlight of the game. It is filled with 15 to 20 unique D-Spirits- the creatures that do battle in the game. Each D-Spirit must have a unique name, meaning the deck is made up entirely of singleton copies of individual spirits. This helps every game feel varied, adding additional excitement to every round!

The second deck is the Support deck, which is filled with 10-20 support cards. These are the “spells” of the game, called signal and side cards, global enchantment effects called realm cards, and special move cards that can only be used when you have the right D-Spirits in play.

The third and final deck is entirely optional, called the side deck, and this can contain up to 20 cards of your choosing. D-Spirits placed in the side deck don’t have to follow the singleton rule of the D-Squad deck, but support cards have to follow their printed deck limit rules. Interestingly, some cards have abilities that they can use from the side deck!

Pick Your Plays

Draw effects in D-Spirits are particularly powerful, because you can choose which of the two main decks to draw from whenever you draw a card. From your initial hand of seven, to every other card you draw, you have to stop and make a choice. “Do I need another D-Spirit to power up my board? Do I need to support what I’ve already committed to the battle scene? What are my odds of drawing the answer I need out of either deck?” These are the kinds of questions that drive a game of D-Spirits, adding tension to every draw!

Balanced Builds

The key to using the decks in D-Spirits then comes down to balance. You want to be able to draw what you need, when you need it, which means running reliable card draw engines and other ways to get the pieces you want. This may be true in more traditional TCGs, but D-Spirits demands that you really key into the numbers until you find what works best for your deck’s synergies.
