Where Will Anointed Peacekeeper Fit in MTG Modern and Pioneer?

Anointed Peacekeeper is a mix between Meddling Mage and Elite Spellbinder and it’s going to slot perfectly into Humans strategies like Pioneer Mono-White Aggro and Modern Humans.

Anointed Peacekeeper isn’t just blind naming like Meddling Mage – it gets to peek at the opponent’s hand and tax the best card, like Elite Spellbinder does. However, it’s much better than PV’s Invitational card because you can name something that isn’t in your opponent’s hand that’s still crucial for their plan to work.

Anointed Peacekeeper

Think about Cavalier of Thorns in Pioneer or Primeval Titan in Modern. These cards can often sit in your opponent’s hand in the form of Oath of Nissa or Tolaria West, which Elite Spellbinder won’t be that effective against.

Anointed Peacekeeper doesn’t stop there, because it also taxes the activated abilities of the chosen card, so if your opponent has a Wrenn and Six or a Teferi, Time Raveler in play, you can name those. Often it’s not worth the mana to activate them, making Anointed Peacekeeper act as a Phyrexian Revoker too.

On top of all this, it has vigilance and it’s a Human, meaning that it will easily slot into any deck that’s playing Champion of the Parish or Thalia’s Lieutenant.
