The Most Impactful Dominaria United MTG Cards in Modern

Dominaria United just dropped on Magic Online, and despite being only out for less than a week, it’s already had a demonstrable impact. In today’s article, I’ll cover the impact that it had in the Modern Challenges that happened over the weekend and take a look at a few deck lists featuring some brand new tech.

Leyline Binding

Leyline Binding is an amazing addition to Modern, a format where you have no problem using fetchlands and Triomes to easily cast this for one mana as early as turn two.

This card has flash so it can deal with dashed Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer and it also exiles higher mana value permanents like Murktide Regent and Fury, which Prismatic Ending and Fatal Push struggle with.

Leyline Binding will see play in cascade decks, that by nature can’t play one or two-drops because they want to cascade into their key cards like Crashing Footfalls or Glimpse of Tomorrow.

It will also see play in four-color decks like Indomitable Creativity or Four-Color Omnath decks, because of how cheap and efficient it is, like how Prismatic Ending can deal with almost any permanent. Most notably, this hits creature-lands like Inkmoth Nexus and Hall of Storm Giants, which March of Otherworldly Light can’t.

Three different archetypes put up a good results with Leyline Binding in them, so let’s take a look!

  1. Leyline says “Target nonland permanent” so it can’t target the creature lands since they are still lands. March of Otherworldly Light can target them.
