What’s the only thing better than putting the best red cards, the best black cards and the best green cards together into the same deck? Doing that while also gaining access to two Jund-colored gold cards that are hitting the Standard metagame exactly right!
Riveteers Charm and Unleash the Inferno are two of the most desirable cards to be playing with in Standard. Unleash may seem like just another expensive removal spell, but it’s actually great right now. Fable of the Mirror-Breaker is the most played card, and appears in virtually every deck with red mana. Artifact and enchantment removal is at a premium in Standard, and getting to build it conveniently into the structure of your main deck is a huge appeal of Jund.
The presence of these two gold cards allows Jund Midrange to match up well against the wide range of decks. Unleash punishes those built around Fable of the Mirror-Breaker and Wedding Announcement. The exile graveyard mode of Charm neutralizes The Cruelty of Gix and Invoke Despair. The “edict” effect of Charm gives you a clean answer to Raffine, Scheming Seer, Hullbreaker Horror, Sol’Kanar the Tainted and of course, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse.
If these two aren’t enough to convince you, Jund also gets access to a huge range of the best threats and answers available in Standard. It’s a well-rounded midrange deck that’s fun, customizable, and has great sideboard options.
There are several different builds of Jund seeing success right now. The particular version I’ll share today has more than a few things to like. It’s low to the ground, without a lot of the clunky, expensive cards that you sometimes see. As always, I’ll also give you some suggestions to customize the deck according to your own preferences, and the matchups you expect to face.
