If you were playing Standard or Historic over the last two or three years chances are this deck is going to look very familiar to you. The combination of Mayhem Devil, Cauldron Familiar and Witch’s Oven has become a core for decks in several different formats across MTG Arena and paper. When you need to play defense, you can gain life, block and remove creatures for a long time. When you need to apply pressure, your clock isn’t the fastest, but it’s very difficult to interact with. Just like back in Standard, this all still true in Pioneer and Explorer, but the card pool is much deeper. That means there are more deckbuilding options and you need to be prepared for even more matchups.
