After the tumultuous banning of Winota, Joiner of Forces and Expressive Iteration in Pioneer, the format has finally settled and the metagame has become a somewhat stable ecosystem with a handful of decks defining themselves as the Tier 1 and Tier 2 strategies of the format. Most Pioneer players at the moment seem to be picking one of these strategies and mastering it in preparation for tournaments, which is always a solid approach to a format. That being said, I do think that there is still plenty of room to work on underexplored and underrepresented decks in Pioneer. My favorite of these is Izzet Gearhulk Creativity, a deck that I was working on and wrote about a couple on months ago. Thanks to some new technology from fellow Twitch streamer Evaros (whose content you can find at twitch.tv/evaros), I was able to take it to a second place finish in a local 68-person Pioneer RCQ.
