This weekend featured the Arena Open, which I was very excited about because despite Phyrexia having a bit of a bad rap, I actually enjoy the format’s aggressive nature and fast paced games.
I thought my first draft was interesting, mostly because I drafted blue, which is the color that most people want to avoid at all costs. Still, there will be drafts where your seat will be the blue one and you’ll either do your best to work with the blue cards or fight your neighbors for the same colors, which usually doesn’t end well.
Blue/black poison is generally perceived as one of the worst archetypes in this format, but I actually don’t mind it if I’m in the right seat for it. Today, I wanted to show you how to navigate the draft if that is the case.
