If you haven’t been paying close attention to social media in the last couple of days, you might have missed the Historic Anthology 5 announcement. There are some new cool cards for the Historic format and it seems that a lot of them have an artifact theme. Ichor Wellspring and Reverse Engineer will fit right into some combo-oriented deck based around cards like Emry, Lurker of the Loch, Sai, Master Thopterist and possibly Paradoxical Outcome, but there are two more artifacts I want to talk about today, Court Homunculus and Vault Skirge, which might finally make a Historic Tempered Steel deck solid.
Historically, Tempered Steel is a deck that Team CFB used for great success. At Worlds 2011, it helped put a whopping four members of the team – LSV, PV, Wrapter and Conley – into the Top 8 and at PT Nagoya, Luis made the Top 8 again using this deck.
For reference, this is what the deck list looked back then

Now, we don’t have all of these cards legal in Historic just yet, but we’re slowly getting there, and the Anthology set hasn’t even been fully spoiled yet so who knows if there isn’t more.
