The first is ninjitsu, which not only makes your two-mana creatures more impactful as things to return in the mid game, but also important as blockers for your opponents’ creatures, to prevent them from being able to get an advantage on board by activating ninjitsu on an impactful creature. As a result, getting an early board presence is important to either set up your own mid game or avoid falling too far behind.
