3 ONE MTG Cards That Didn’t Get Enough Preview Hype for Pioneer

With every new set, there are cards that fly under the radar during preview season only to make a big splash in Constructed formats. Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty had Fable of the Mirror-Breaker. Streets of New Capenna had Ledger Shredder. Dominaria United brought Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, a card that even some of the best Pioneer Rakdos Midrange players in the world initially thought wouldn’t make the cut in their deck. Phyrexia: All Will Be One is no exception to this, with multiple cards that didn’t get much preview hype for Pioneer making early waves in the format.

For a few of these cards, competitive players only realized how good these cards are recently, too late to thoroughly test them before Pro Tour ONE. Just 27 total copies of these three cards were registered in the inaugural return to the Pro Tour, but I’ve seen many players say if the PT was a week later, things may have looked a lot different.
